Solar Initiatives: सौर पहल
Ø In ECR, total 1.517 MWp solar plants have been commissioned at 43 nos. Railway stations, 11 nos. Service building & Railways offices with rooftop solar panels

·7 Nos. Lifts (RJPB-2, SEE-2, DHN-1, SSM-1, DBG-1) have been commissioned during the year against 5 Nos. lifts during last year.
·2 Nos. escalators have been commissioned at Muzaffarpur Railway stations during the year against 1 No. escalator during last year.
·Rebate availed Rs. 24.54 Cr. (Traction- Rs. 23.45 Cr & Non- Traction Rs. 1.09Cr.) on account of timely payment during Apr’22 to Feb’23.
·10 nos. stations have been improved illumination level as per Airport standard lighting.
·246.75 KWp solar plants have been installed departmentally at platforms, service buildings & DRM buildings during the year.
·Solar plants (rooftop) have been installed at 19 nos. stations over ECR.
·1400 KVA Contract Demand (CD) has been reduced during the year.
·19 Nos. stations (SPJ-8,DNR-6,DHN-3,SEE-2) have been electrified during the year.
·Innovative Work:A solar powered Electrical Vehicle (EV) charging system
capacity of 9.25 kW consist of (25 Nos. X 370 watt) has been installed in
the parking area of DRM building, Danapur . In This Solar EV is able to
provide charging facility for both commercial and domestic type of EV.

Electric General Services (Power Supply) Summer Preparedness
विद्युत सामान्य सेवाएं (विद्युत आपूर्ति) ग्रीष्मकालीन तैयारी
(i)Passenger Amenities items
·Proper working of passenger amenities items like water coolers, air conditioners, master chiller plant, UTS/PRS etc.
·Working of ceiling fans (encl. Exhaust fans) and safety checks for suspension arrangement to be done.
(ii)Water Supply & Pumps
·Adequate availability of water at stations/washing lines and colonies etc.
·Availability of spare pumps and their spare parts like cable, starter, single phasing detector etc.
(iii)Sub -Station & Power Supply arrangements
·Overhead line network/UG cable network- Power overhead lines to be checked for proper sagging provision of guard and cross guard wires.
·Checks for IR value of transformer winding and BDV/Acidity test for transformer oil.
·Cable jointing kits to be used for jointing cable and proper crimping should be done to avoid twisted joints where existing.
·IR value and earth value of all critical electrical assets to be recorded.
·Power factor of each substation to be measured and improve to enhance the current carrying capacity of electrical circuit.
·Phase balancing to be achieved to minimize current in the neutral circuit.
·All protective relays should be checked for proper setting, all fuses should be of proper size. Ensure functioning of protection system in HT panel. Earthing of sub-station by plate earthing, neutral grounding by separate pit, recording of earth pit resistance.
(iv)DG set
·Proper working of DG sets , electricity supply to stations /colonies and sensitive locations, close coordination with local electricity board authorities. Garbage/inflammable materials /paper pieces should be removed from the vicinity of diesel tanks as fire is more prone during summer season. Joints of cables to be avoided in the vicinity of DG sets /HSD tanks and if not possible the cable jointing kits should be used or criped joints may be in boxes. Protection provided in DG sets like water temperature lub oil pressure and lub oil temperature must be in working order. MCBs/Change over switch connecting cable etc should be of proper size.
·Upkeep of spare parts of DG sets. Plan for overhauling of DG set, review existing AMC should be on OEM only. Genuineness of spare parts to be ensured.
