  2. IMPORTANT CIRCULAR,1,304,366,533,1142



             Railway Protection Force is constituted and maintained by the Central Government as an Armed Force of the Union for the better protection and security of Railway property. This Force is constituted as per Section -3 of RPF Act, 1957 (Amended 1985 & 2003). Its main function is to protect and safe guard Railway property, passengers and passenger area.

           Railway Protection Force is headed by Director General/Railway Protection Force officiated at Railway Board/New Delhi and he is assisted by IG/Administration and IG/Crime & Intelligence and other officers at Board level and IG-Cum-Chief Security Commissioners at Zonal level.

          At Zonal level, RPF is headed by IG-cum-Principal Chief Security Commissioner and he is assisted by  Chief Security Commissioner, Staff Officer and other Assistant Security Commissioners.

           At Divisional level RPF is head by Senior Divisional Security Commissioner and  assisted by Security Commissioner, Assistant Security Commissioners and Inspectors.

          At field level the Posts are headed by the Inspectors and they are assisted by Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Head constables and Constables
